Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is designed to support the WHO Iraq- UHC/Health Systems & Life Course team in their mission to strengthen health systems in Iraq. The role focuses on enhancing public health awareness during mass gatherings, particularly in the context of the significant events like Muharram and Arbaeen, which attract large numbers of pilgrims. Volunteers will utilize social media platforms to disseminate crucial health information, particularly regarding the impact of climate change on security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security and safety, as well as tips for maintaining hygiene during these gatherings. The position requires volunteers to be proactive in engaging with their audiences and promoting health awareness effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include:

• Raising awareness about diseases exacerbated by climate change, including vector-borne and water-borne illnesses.
• Sharing pre-made awareness materials provided by the project team on personal social media platforms.
• Encouraging and promoting the sharing of these materials among their networks.
• Collaborating with other online volunteers to maximize outreach and impact.
• Engaging with the community to foster discussions around health and safety during mass gatherings.
• Reporting back to the project team on engagement metrics and feedback from the audience.

Required Qualifications:
Volunteers should possess strong communication skills, particularly in writing and engaging with audiences on social media. They should be proficient in using various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. A passion for public health and community engagement is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Familiarity with health-related topics, especially those concerning climate change and food safety, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
While there are no strict educational requirements for this volunteer position, a background in public health, communications, social sciences, or a related field would be beneficial. Volunteers should have a good understanding of health issues and the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner to a broad audience.

Experience:
Previous experience in social media management, public health campaigns, or community outreach is advantageous but not mandatory. Volunteers should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the project team and the community they are serving.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all communications and materials will be in English. Knowledge of Arabic or other local languages would be considered a significant asset, as it would enhance communication with local communities and participants during mass gatherings.
