Job Posting Organization:

Job Overview:
The consultant will be part of the UNEP Nature, Youth and Advocacy team, focusing on youth and education initiatives. This includes managing projects like the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge, Sport for Nature, and Playing for the Planet. The role involves engaging with both formal and non-formal education partners to enhance environmental education outreach. The consultant will work closely with the Programme Management Officer of the Wastewater Unit and the Chief of the Source to Sea Pollution Unit, contributing to the scaling up of youth engagement projects and ensuring effective implementation of environmental policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for designing and managing projects that secure stakeholder buy-in and generate measurable results. This includes developing project proposals, coordinating with various partners, and ensuring the effective delivery of complex global projects. The consultant will also be tasked with writing high-quality reports and proposals, facilitating collaboration among diverse groups, and innovating existing programs to maximize their impact. Additionally, the consultant will oversee the implementation of youth-focused initiatives and ensure alignment with UNEP's broader environmental goals.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communications, political science, environmental management, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Strong project design skills and the ability to manage complex projects effectively are essential, along with excellent communication skills to engage various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant field such as communications, political science, or environmental management is required. A Bachelor’s degree may be accepted if accompanied by additional qualifying experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in the necessary academic disciplines.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area. Candidates should have a proven track record of designing and implementing projects that achieve significant results, particularly in the context of environmental education and youth engagement.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as both English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
