Job Overview: The Human Resource Officer position is crucial for supporting the HR functions within the NRC's Kenya Country Office. The role involves implementing HR policies and procedures, assisting in recruitment processes, and maintaining staff records. The officer will work closely with the HR Coordinator and the HR Manager for Somalia and Kenya to provide strategic and operational guidance on staffing and employee relations. Duties and Responsibilities: The Human Resource Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: complying with NRC’s HR policies and procedures; assisting in recruitment processes such as advertisements, filling applications, and organizing interviews; updating staff records and files; generating monthly HR reports; processing medical claims and insurance; preparing staff contributions to statutory bodies; managing HR archives; supporting training processes; overseeing recruitment and talent acquisition; designing onboarding programs; conducting HR audits; coordinating partner onboarding; managing payroll administration; overseeing benefits administration; collaborating with program teams for workforce planning; assisting in staff training initiatives; providing logistical support for employee engagement activities; managing staff clearance processes; maintaining personnel files; supporting performance management cycles; and ensuring compliance with labor laws and HR policies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field from a recognized institution. Additionally, a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) qualification or a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management is required. The role demands a minimum of five years of progressive experience in Human Resource Management, preferably within an international NGO or humanitarian context. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Human Resource Management Information Systems (HRMIS) and have experience in payroll administration and statutory deductions. A solid understanding of HR policies, employment legislation, and best practices is essential, along with membership in good standing with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) in Kenya.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field from a recognized institution. Additionally, candidates should have a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) qualification or a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management, which demonstrates a formal understanding of HR principles and practices.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of progressive experience in Human Resource Management.
