Job Overview: The HR Business Partner role at Viya Health is designed to provide essential support in achieving the organization's objectives. This position is integral to the team and focuses on operational support related to the employee life cycle within Viya Health East Africa. The HR Business Partner will partner with the business to ensure the execution of HR services, including yearly HR processes, talent development, recruitment, and employee relations, all while maintaining a continuous improvement mindset and a human touch. The role involves aligning HR efforts with specific business needs, conducting organization assessments, and addressing team efficiency and people issues. The HR Business Partner will manage and implement Viya Health’s HR policies, procedures, and tools, overseeing the selection and hiring of the team in East Africa and leading overall HR functions such as workforce planning, recruitment, and staff development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The HR Business Partner will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: implementing the HR strategy aligned with organizational goals, devising and implementing metrics, consulting and advising management on HR solutions, participating in workforce planning and job evaluation, overseeing the full-cycle recruitment process, coordinating recruitment and orientation for new and transferring staff, reviewing job position requests and descriptions, ensuring compliance with labor laws, overseeing HR-related administrative duties, facilitating staff benefits and compensation administration, leading the performance management process, managing employee relations and discipline, and identifying areas for continuous improvement. The role also includes maintaining compliance with local laws and regulations, ensuring the HR Handbook is developed and updated, and serving as an ambassador for Viya Health's standards for business ethics and code of conduct.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or an equivalent field. A minimum of five years’ experience in a senior HR role is required, with at least two years at a supervisory level. Advanced knowledge of HR disciplines such as employee development, change management, recruitment, branding, compensation practices, employee relations, compliance, and performance management is essential. Strong decision-making skills, excellent customer service abilities, and proficiency in MS Office Suite are also required. Candidates should have hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll systems, knowledge of labor regulations, and the ability to handle confidential information professionally.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field. Equivalent combinations of relevant education and experience may also be considered. Candidates should have a strong foundation in human resource principles and practices, as well as knowledge of East Africa employment law.
Experience: The position requires at least five years of experience in a senior HR role, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing HR functions in a fast-paced environment and should be able to demonstrate their ability to implement best practices in HR management and service provision.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the East African region would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse employee groups.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, or Kampala, Uganda, with up to 30% of international travel expected. The role reports to the Head of HR for Viya Health Africa.
