Job Overview:
The intern position in the Independent Evaluation Department is designed for individuals looking to gain practical experience in evaluation and knowledge management within an international financial institution. The intern will support various activities, including knowledge management, communications, event management, and innovation initiatives. The role requires a proactive approach to learning and the ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural team. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to significant projects and gain insights into the workings of the EBRD, while also developing essential skills in communication, project management, and digital tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of tasks that include:
  • Supporting knowledge management activities by maintaining and updating the department’s webpage and digital repositories to ensure content accuracy and accessibility.
  • Assisting with communications and outreach efforts, which involve drafting and editing content for newsletters, internal and external communications, and social media channels, ensuring alignment with institutional messaging.
  • Providing logistical support for dissemination and event management, including preparation and coordination of materials for workshops, seminars, and other knowledge-sharing events.
  • Contributing to innovation initiatives by exploring and testing new digital tools and workflow improvements, as well as conducting basic data analysis to enhance knowledge products.
  • Supporting the editing, formatting, and quality assurance of evaluation reports and communication materials, ensuring adherence to corporate style and branding guidelines.
  • Assisting in the organization of evaluation capacity development activities, such as the IPDET London program, and monitoring participation in online courses.
  • Collaborating with team members to support ongoing knowledge, learning, and communication activities as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a graduate qualification (Masters) in fields such as Economics, Finance, Political Science, Sociology, Communications, or Media. Essential qualifications include a strong interest in development finance or international relations, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience in event support or coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, is required, along with good digital literacy and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Attention to detail, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and a proactive approach to learning are also essential.

Educational Background:
A graduate qualification (Masters) in relevant fields such as Economics, Finance, Political Science, Sociology, Communications, or Media is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills needed to perform effectively in the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some experience or exposure to event support or coordination, such as workshops, seminars, or conferences. While specific years of experience are not mandated, familiarity with the workings of international financial institutions or similar environments is advantageous.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the EBRD. Knowledge of an official language of the Bank other than English is considered a desirable asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The internship is a six-month contract position, starting in September. The role is designed for full-time engagement, with the expectation that interns will work in the office 50% of the time.
