Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Coordinator (Infrastructure) position offers a unique opportunity to engage in critical infrastructure projects in Myanmar. The role involves working within a dynamic team to support community development and emergency response efforts, providing exposure to a wide range of technical challenges. The incumbent will be responsible for technical coordination, support, and quality assurance oversight for infrastructure-related activities implemented by the 3PI team. This includes supporting infrastructure interventions across the humanitarian-development nexus, ensuring compliance with UNOPS standards, and contributing to the overall project lifecycle. The Technical Coordinator will play a vital role in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of infrastructure projects, ultimately impacting the lives of vulnerable populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Coordinator will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including:
Providing technical support and coordination to Project and Programme Managers throughout the infrastructure project lifecycle.
Supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of infrastructure activities, including reviewing technical approaches and methodologies.
Conducting technical reviews and quality assurance for infrastructure designs, drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), and other applicable UNOPS requirements.
Facilitating assessments of the quality and adequacy of infrastructure design and construction activities.
Identifying and mitigating infrastructure-related risks and challenges.
Coordinating technical support services provided by the 3PI design/engineering team.
Maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders, including project teams, partners, and government counterparts.
Contributing to project and programme reporting, including preparation of technical inputs and activity reports. 1
Required Qualifications: The position requires a professional or technical diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a relevant discipline with 11 years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience. Desired qualifications include certification in PRINCE2® Practitioner or other project management certifications. Knowledge of UNOPS systems and processes, particularly in design review, is also desired, along with familiarity with the Myanmar context and sustainable approaches to structural engineering.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a professional or technical diploma in Civil Engineering (CEng, PE, P. Eng.), Architecture, Construction Management, or a relevant discipline. A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in the same fields is also acceptable, with varying years of relevant experience required based on the level of education. Certification in project management methodologies such as PRINCE2® is considered an asset.
Experience: Relevant experience in engineering, design, infrastructure, or related fields is required. Candidates should have a strong understanding of structural modeling, calculations, and the development infrastructure sector. Experience in project and programme management, particularly in conflict-affected areas, is highly desirable. Previous experience with UN, NGOs, or civil society organizations is an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English and Burmese is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
