Job Overview: The EHA Coordinator will serve as the technical reference for the mission, contributing to the development of SI's strategy by proposing a sectoral strategy in the field of water, hygiene, and sanitation (EHA). The coordinator will ensure the quality and relevance of the technical approaches proposed and will coordinate the project cycle, particularly the operational follow-up of EHA programs implemented in the country. The role involves leading SI's positioning within the EHA cluster and piloting the revision of sectoral approaches. The EHA Coordinator will also contribute to the capitalization and improvement of EHA methods and techniques used by SI. Specific challenges include maintaining SI's role as a focal point for EHA in intervention areas, remaining a key player in emergency responses to cholera, Ebola, and other epidemics, and promoting new sectoral approaches. The first two to three months will focus on leading EHA projects, strengthening sectoral engagement, and ensuring strategic positioning within the WASH cluster.
Duties and Responsibilities: The EHA Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
Develop and implement the EHA strategy in alignment with SI's overall mission objectives.
Ensure the quality and relevance of EHA activities and approaches.
Coordinate the project cycle for EHA programs, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
Lead the positioning of SI within the EHA cluster and participate in relevant coordination meetings.
Pilot the revision of EHA sectoral approaches and contribute to the development of new methodologies.
Engage with communities to promote hygiene practices and sanitation.
Collaborate with other sectors to ensure integrated programming.
Conduct assessments and evaluations to inform program development and funding proposals.
Manage and mentor EHA team members, ensuring capacity building and professional development. 1
Ensure compliance with security protocols and adapt programming to the evolving context in DRC.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a higher education degree in hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, rural development, public health, or project management. They should have a strong technical background in WASH (both hard and soft components) and experience in constructing water supply systems and sanitation facilities. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent project cycle management skills, organizational abilities, and communication skills. Experience in epidemic response and knowledge of public health are also essential. Leadership capabilities and the ability to manage multidimensional teams are required, along with a good understanding of accountability frameworks and community engagement.
Educational Background: A university degree in hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, rural development, public health, or project management is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of WASH principles and practices, as well as experience in community mobilization and hygiene promotion methodologies.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar position. Experience in emergency response and epidemic management is highly desirable, as well as familiarity with the specific challenges faced in the DRC context.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory. Proficiency in English and Swahili is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration within the team and with local communities.

The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month, plus a monthly per diem of USD 80
SI covers accommodation and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. The working conditions include a rotation system with breaks every three months, and expatriates are provided with comprehensive health insurance. Living conditions include accommodation in guest houses with private rooms and bathrooms, access to varied and quality food, and opportunities for recreational activities. Security conditions are dynamic, with curfews and restrictions in place due to the ongoing MVE epidemic in Goma.
