Job Overview: The Driver position is integral to the operations of the Resident Office (RO) team, primarily responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel for official purposes. This role involves driving official vehicles within Warsaw and occasionally to other locations in Poland and neighboring countries. The Driver will also provide clerical support as needed, ensuring that all transport activities are conducted in compliance with EBRD's safety and conduct guidelines. The position requires a commitment to maintaining a professional appearance and adhering to local laws and regulations while driving. The Driver must be skilled in defensive driving techniques and be familiar with local driving conditions and routes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver will be responsible for the following duties:
Safely transport authorized personnel to and from airports, transport hubs, meetings, and appointments for official purposes.
Operate the official vehicle in a safe manner, adhering to local driving laws and regulations.
Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts at all times and that the vehicle is in roadworthy condition before and after each trip.
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle, ensuring it is equipped with necessary items such as a first aid kit, spare tire, and communication equipment.
Provide clerical support, including the delivery and collection of mail and documents, answering phones, and recording business transactions.
Accurately record and report weekly transport logs, fuel usage, and maintenance activities.
Ensure the vehicle has valid registration, insurance, and meets local testing requirements.
Identify alternative routes when necessary to avoid busy or unsafe areas.
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly vehicle checks as directed by the Head of RO or delegate.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driving license and demonstrate a capability for defensive driving. Professional driving experience with a proven safe driving record is essential. A thorough knowledge of local driving rules and regulations is required, along with familiarity with the city’s roads and willingness to drive throughout the country and occasionally to neighboring countries. An Advanced Driving Training Certificate is preferable. Candidates should also possess basic skills in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance, and have strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to teamwork. Proficiency in English and Ukrainian, both verbal and written, is mandatory.
Educational Background: A secondary school education is required for this position. Candidates should have a solid understanding of basic vehicle maintenance and safety protocols, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Ukrainian.
Experience: Candidates should have professional driving experience, ideally with a clean driving record. Experience in a similar role within an international organization or a governmental agency would be advantageous, as would familiarity with the operational protocols of diplomatic missions or international organizations.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it pertains to the regions in which the EBRD operates.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract lasting for 2 years, with the possibility of temporary relocation to Warsaw, Poland. The EBRD may allow eligible candidates to work from Ukraine if relocation is not feasible due to personal reasons. The role is full-time, with an expectation for employees to work in the office 50% of the time.
