Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located within the Office of Military Affairs (OMA) of the Department of Peace Operations (DPO) at the United Nations. The internship is designed to provide practical experience in the field of military affairs and peace operations. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in various tasks that support the mission of the UN in maintaining international peace and security. The internship is flexible, allowing for either full-time or part-time commitments, and can be conducted remotely or in a hybrid format at the UN premises in New York. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks that may include supporting social media campaigns, preparing presentations, organizing events, updating web pages, and creating audiovisual content. They will assist in developing communication materials that highlight good practices and achievements, conduct research, compile and draft information for social media content, and format documents. Additional responsibilities include proofreading documents, gathering information on military components in the field, editing messages and reports, monitoring social media statistics, and attending meetings to take notes. Interns may also assist with special projects as assigned, providing a comprehensive experience in the workings of the UN's military affairs.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Skills in drafting articles and social media posts, as well as designing surveys and polls, are desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. The educational background should be relevant to the internship's focus on military affairs and peace operations. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree must be provided during the application process.

Experience:
While no prior professional work experience is required for this internship, applicants should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. This could include involvement in projects, research, or volunteer work related to peace operations, military affairs, or international relations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's application.
