Job Overview:
The Strategic and Project Support Intern position is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the United Nations' mission while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic and impactful environment. The intern will work within the Performance and Analytics Section (PAS) of the Office of the Under-Secretary-General of Operational Support. This role involves engaging in strategic planning, performance analytics, and innovation initiatives that are crucial for the Department's transformation and overall effectiveness. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be expected to take on a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the team's objectives and the overall mission of the United Nations. Key duties include: - Providing strategic and project support in areas such as data analysis, digital transformation, and organizational culture. - Assisting in the preparation of presentations, background documents, and talking points for various stakeholders. - Supporting knowledge management efforts, including community facilitation and information dissemination. - Engaging in process optimization and metrics development to enhance operational efficiency. - Collecting and drafting best practices, case studies, and lessons learned through surveys and workshops. - Maintaining key data sets and reports to support analytics efforts. - Conducting research and applying behavioral science principles to inform strategic planning and decision-making processes. This role is akin to consulting work, requiring strong conceptualization and project management skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Interns are required to work full-time, ideally five days a week, with a minimum expectation of being in the office at least three days a week, in accordance with UNHQ-NY hybrid working policies. Interns who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents must obtain a G4 visa and ensure they have the necessary work authorization. All costs related to travel, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. The United Nations does not charge any fees during the recruitment process.
