Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The Office of the UNHCR, established on December 14, 1950, by the UN General Assembly, is dedicated to leading and coordinating international efforts to protect refugees and resolve refugee issues globally. The agency's primary mission is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees, ensuring that everyone can exercise their right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another state. The UNHCR also facilitates voluntary return, local integration, or resettlement in a third country, reflecting its commitment to humanitarian principles and the protection of vulnerable populations.

Job Overview:
The UNHCR is seeking volunteers to support the World Refugee Day campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the plight of refugees and promote their rights. Volunteers will have the opportunity to join one of several teams, each focusing on different aspects of the campaign. These teams include design, content creation, video support, campaign strategy, and translation. The campaign is a vital initiative to combat stereotypes, highlight stories of resilience, and mobilize support for refugee integration and humanitarian assistance. By participating, volunteers will contribute to a significant global campaign, enhance their communication and advocacy skills, and work alongside a diverse team united by a common goal.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteers will be assigned to one of the following teams: 1) Design Team: Responsible for sharing verified campaign materials across various platforms and adapting captions for different audiences. Each volunteer is expected to publish 15 verified posts throughout the campaign. 2) Content Creation Team: Develop social media posts, reels, and captions, preparing content for the campaign's pre-launch and key moments. Each volunteer should prepare at least 10 publications for review. 3) Video Support and Narration Team: Assist in writing scripts and narrating videos that showcase refugee stories, ensuring consent and identity protection. Volunteers will edit short videos/reels, with each expected to produce at least 10 videos. 4) Campaign Strategy and Reach Monitoring Team: Suggest publication schedules based on audience activity, track engagement and reach, and provide insights for improving dissemination. Deliverables include a publication calendar and a final report on reach. 5) Translation and Localization Team: Review translated documents for publication, ensuring cultural relevance and emotional impact. Each volunteer will proofread at least 50 documents in the required languages.

Required Qualifications:
Volunteers should possess strong communication skills, creativity, and a commitment to the values of the UNHCR. Experience in social media management, content creation, or advocacy is beneficial. Volunteers must be adaptable and able to work collaboratively in a team environment. A passion for refugee issues and a willingness to learn and contribute to the campaign's goals are essential.

Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in communications, media, international relations, or a related field is advantageous. Volunteers should have a good understanding of social media platforms and their dynamics, as well as an awareness of refugee issues and humanitarian principles.

Experience:
Previous experience in volunteer work, particularly in communications, media, or advocacy, is preferred but not mandatory. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively is important. Volunteers should be comfortable using various digital tools and platforms to engage with audiences and disseminate information.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and French is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used in the campaign. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly Arabic, is considered a valuable asset, especially for the translation and localization team.

Additional Notes:
The campaign is a volunteer opportunity, and while it does not specify a contract duration, it is likely tied to the timeline of the World Refugee Day events. Volunteers will receive a certificate of appreciation from the UNV for their contributions. This position is open to individuals who are passionate about refugee rights and willing to engage in meaningful advocacy efforts.
