Job Overview:
The National UN Specialist Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting the health and well-being program management at the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in New Delhi. This position involves planning, implementing, monitoring, reporting, and evaluating programs aimed at enhancing access to age-appropriate, gender-sensitive, and socially inclusive information and services. The volunteer will work closely with the Joint Secretary of the Ministry and the Adolescent and Youth unit of UNFPA, contributing to initiatives that empower youth from tribal communities and promote their health and rights. The role requires strategic and technical support for strengthening the Tribal Research Institute ecosystem, facilitating collaboration with various stakeholders, and ensuring effective program management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National UN Specialist Volunteer include providing strategic, technical, and programmatic support for the Tribal Research Institute ecosystem across States and Union Territories. This involves coordinating with various institutions engaged in tribal development, assisting in the review and documentation of research studies, and supporting the identification of priority research themes. The volunteer will also prepare concept notes, project proposals, and policy briefs, facilitate workshops and consultations, and assist in data collection and analysis related to TRI-supported activities. Additionally, the volunteer will contribute to the development of communication materials and monitoring frameworks, and support collaboration with national and international institutions for advancing research in tribal development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be members of a recognized Scheduled Tribe, with a preference for youth who face intersecting vulnerabilities such as gender, income, and disabilities. The position requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. A commitment to the principles of inclusion, human rights, and gender equality is essential, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and capacity building.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background in social sciences, public health, development studies, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of tribal issues, development policies, and research methodologies, as well as the ability to engage effectively with youth and community stakeholders.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in program management, research, or community development, particularly in the context of tribal populations. Familiarity with the challenges faced by tribal communities and experience in capacity building or advocacy work will be advantageous. Previous involvement in youth empowerment initiatives or gender equality programs is also desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in local languages spoken in tribal communities will be considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in New Delhi, India. The contract duration is subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance, with no expectation of renewal. The volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a monthly Voluntary Living Allowance (VLA) of INR 70158.41, along with a one-time entry lump sum payment and relocation costs if applicable. Comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance is provided, along with annual leave and access to learning resources. The volunteer is expected to be culturally sensitive and adapt to the local environment.
