Job Overview:
The position of Adjoint/Adjointe de sécurité et accès is crucial for the operational success of WFP in Haiti, particularly in Gonaives. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Gonaives Office and will provide technical support to the country office's access and security officers. This role involves implementing security strategies and access plans to ensure the safety of personnel and operations. The Adjoint(e) will be responsible for assessing security measures, managing resources, and coordinating a security support team. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while adhering to general guidelines. The Adjoint(e) will also analyze the humanitarian situation to anticipate potential impacts on WFP operations and will engage with humanitarian and non-humanitarian stakeholders to facilitate access to vulnerable populations in Haiti.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating staff activities during field missions, conducting security assessments, and providing detailed risk mitigation recommendations. The Adjoint(e) will implement risk management measures, ensure strict adherence to access control procedures, and refine operational modalities in response to access constraints. Additionally, the role involves training staff on security protocols, managing security equipment, and maintaining up-to-date emergency response plans. The Adjoint(e) will collect and analyze security-related information, produce reports on security developments, and advise the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">country director on security risk management. Coordination with local authorities, UN security personnel, and NGOs is essential to ensure safe access for WFP programs. The Adjoint(e) will also support the Food Security Sector coordination and participate in access working group meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of security management practices, risk assessment techniques, and coordination with local authorities. A preference for candidates with specialized training in security procedures and emergency response is noted. The role requires excellent communication skills to maintain frequent contact with internal staff and external authorities regarding security updates. Attention to detail and the ability to remain calm in emergencies are critical. Candidates should demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to interpret security information effectively. A willingness to participate in ongoing security training and adhere to UN security management standards is essential.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes the completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by a university degree or equivalent in social sciences, political science, management, communication, or related fields. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian access and security management.

Experience:
A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in humanitarian access, security management, and community relations in conflict situations is required. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in challenging environments and managing security operations effectively. Experience in training and capacity building for staff in security protocols is also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and French, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders in the region.
