Job Overview: The Coordination Officer - Gender Equality and Youth Development will play a crucial role in the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in New Delhi, India. This position involves working closely with the UN Women India Country Representative and the UNFPA India Country Representative, under the supervision of the Chief of Staff. The primary function of this role is to support the coordination of development activities across all UN agencies in India, focusing on mainstreaming gender and youth issues. The officer will assist in the planning and implementation of work plans, development of joint programs, and provision of technical support to ensure that gender and youth considerations are integrated into the UN's strategic framework. The officer will also engage in advocacy and outreach efforts, organize meetings and events, and strengthen the capacity of the UN Country Team to deliver on gender equality and youth development objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Coordination Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the UN sub-group on gender and youth by assisting in the planning and implementation of work plans and joint programs.
Providing technical support to strengthen the capacity of the UN Country Team in gender and youth issues.
Ensuring effective coordination of UN activities as outlined in the UN Development Assistance Framework.
Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the UNCT work plan and Results Matrix.
Developing high-quality documents and knowledge products related to gender equality and youth development.
Conducting research and analysis on gender and youth empowerment and preparing analytical papers.
Organizing training sessions for UN, government, and civil society partners on gender equality and youth development.
Supporting advocacy efforts and knowledge sharing among partners working on gender and youth issues.
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the UN Country Team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of gender equality and youth development issues, along with proven experience in program management and coordination. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and international partners. Strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to gender equality are essential. The candidate should also be adept at managing data and producing high-quality reports and knowledge products.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in international development, Gender, Human Rights, Public Administration, or Social Sciences is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to effectively address gender and youth issues within the UN framework.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of seven years of proven professional experience in the field of gender equality and youth development. Candidates should have experience in providing technical support and strategic coordination with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society, and international organizations. Experience in designing, managing, and monitoring programs aimed at empowering women and youth is highly desirable. Additionally, the ability to produce quality knowledge products for advocacy and policy development is an asset.
