Job Overview:
The National Professional Officer for Adolescent and Reproductive Health will work under the direct supervision of the National Professional Officer for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Adolescent and Child Health. This role involves providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health (MoH) and partners in designing and implementing health promotion programs and healthcare services specifically tailored for adolescents. The incumbent will be responsible for developing reproductive health policies and programs, including family planning and cervical cancer prevention initiatives. The position requires building effective relationships with youth organizations and advocating for adolescent health, particularly in areas such as mental health and nutrition. The officer will also coordinate evidence generation for adolescent health, adapt WHO guidelines to local contexts, and design monitoring and evaluation plans to inform policy development. This role is crucial in ensuring that adolescent health is integrated into existing health programs and services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will perform a variety of duties including:
  • Providing technical assistance to the MoH and partners on health promotion programs for adolescents.
  • Assisting in the development of reproductive health policies and program implementation.
  • Building relationships with youth organizations to empower adolescents in health initiatives.
  • Advocating for adolescent health with key stakeholders.
  • Adapting WHO guidelines and training materials to local contexts.
  • Coordinating evidence generation for adolescent health in collaboration with national research institutes.
  • Designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation plans.
  • Developing technical briefs and strategic communication materials.
  • Building networks among partners to support policy development. 1
  • Supporting the MoH in the implementation of collaborative programs for adolescent health. 1
  • Working across technical programs to incorporate adolescent health into existing services. 1
  • Undertaking additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include a university degree in medicine, nursing, or midwifery from an internationally recognized university. Desirable qualifications include a master's degree or specialized medical training in public health, adolescent or reproductive health, or a related health subject. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to empowering young people and possess sound technical knowledge of adolescent and reproductive health strategies. They should also have the ability to adapt WHO strategies to the national context and form effective working relationships with government counterparts and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in medicine, nursing, or midwifery from an accredited institution. A master's degree or specialized training in public health or related fields is desirable, indicating a higher level of expertise in adolescent and reproductive health.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in public health program implementation, particularly in adolescent and/or reproductive health programs at the national or subnational level. Additional years of experience in public health or clinical adolescent health programs are desirable. Experience working with youth groups and organizations, as well as previous work in UN agencies or international development organizations, is also preferred.

Languages:
Essential languages include expert knowledge of English and Bahasa Indonesia. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as a National Professional Officer role, meaning only applications from nationals of Indonesia will be accepted. The remuneration for this position starts at IDR 734,133,000 annually, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. The role includes 30 days of annual leave.
