Job Overview: The Deputy ProjectDirector will play a pivotal role in the implementation of the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) projects in Indonesia. This position requires a strong leader who can navigate the complexities of a fast-paced, USG-funded environment while ensuring compliance with government policies and donor regulations. The Deputy Project Director will work closely with the STRIDES project team to maintain high performance and responsiveness to evolving needs. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment between strategic direction and execution, and maintaining accountability for achieving work plan targets and performance metrics. The Deputy Project Director will also be responsible for fostering collaboration among various departments to support the successful implementation of the STRIDES project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Deputy Project Director will provide leadership and management support for the STRIDES project, ensuring strategic coherence and compliance with donor regulations. Key responsibilities include leading the daily implementation of activities across Global Healthsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (GHS) and Polio portfolios, building the capacities of project team members, tracking progress against indicators and deliverables, and resolving implementation bottlenecks. The role also involves overseeing operations management, ensuring effective budget management, and supporting programming staff in documenting lessons learned. The Deputy Project Director will ensure high-quality donor reporting, manage procurement and sub-contracts, conduct routine monitoring visits, and coordinate with stakeholders for sound budget management. Additionally, the role requires developing strong relationships with donors and representing the organization in high-level meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess effective knowledge of design, implementation, and management of sector-specific and multi-sector/international development projects funded by U.S. government or other international donors. A strong understanding of Global Health Security (GHS), surveillance systems, and laboratory strengthening is highly preferred. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to manage complex, multi-partner programs in a results-driven environment and have a solid understanding of U.S. Government rules and reporting requirements.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Health, Business Management, or a related field is required, with a Master's degree preferred. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of health systems and project management in the context of international development.
Experience: Typically, candidates should have 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a management role. Experience working with Government of Indonesia ministries, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and Ministry of Health (MOH), is highly desired. Demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating across technical and operational functions is crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as the role involves communication with international stakeholders and reporting to U.S. Government entities. Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is highly advantageous, as it facilitates better interaction with local partners and government officials.
Additional Notes: This position is expected to require domestic travel up to 25%. The hiring salary range for this role is IDR 500,000,000 - 700,000,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
