The officer will be responsible for fostering collaboration among various stakeholders, including government officials and international partners, to ensure the effective integration of digital health solutions into national health systems. The role also includes generating evidence-based insights and resources to guide policy-making and implementation of digital health initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support in developing and monitoring digital health and AI strategies at regional and country levels.
Assist member states in designing, implementing, and evaluating digital health strategies and governance frameworks.
Adapt WHO guidelines to strengthen digital health governance and ensure data protection and privacy.
Engage in policy dialogue with senior government officials and partners to promote sustainable digital transformation.
Coordinate partnerships with WHO headquarters, country offices, and other stakeholders to harmonize digital health initiatives.
Generate evidence on digital health and AI, develop policy briefs, and support resource mobilization efforts.
Create communication materials and facilitate knowledge exchange events to update stakeholders on digital health initiatives.
Provide administrative support to country offices to enhance their capacity for delivering results.
Deliver comprehensive technical support across budget centers to ensure measurable outcomes for member states. 1
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Regional Adviser or Director of Health Systems.
Required Qualifications: Essential qualifications include a university degree in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Digital Health, Health Informatics, Public Health, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate technical expertise in digital health and AI applications, strong analytical skills, and knowledge of digital health governance and cyber security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory, along with the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments. Desirable qualifications include an advanced degree in a relevant field and formal training in AI or data science.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a university degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Digital Health, or Public Health. An advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in a related field is desirable, along with formal training in AI, data science, or digital transformation.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in implementing digital technologies, including AI, in the health sector. Experience in developing or implementing digital health strategies at the country level is essential. Desirable experience includes working with UN agencies or international development organizations in the digital health domain, particularly within the WHO South-East Asia Region.
Languages: Expert knowledge of English is essential for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset, although not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The position offers a competitive salary starting at USD 71,335 annually, with additional benefits such as a variable post adjustment based on the cost of living, 30 days of annual leave, and allowances for dependent family members.
