Job Overview: The Junior Land Consolidation Specialist will be an integral part of the UTF/GEO/034/GEO-F project, which aims to formulate and design land consolidation strategies in Georgia. This role is crucial for supporting the introduction of a fully operational land consolidation instrument that integrates with irrigation rehabilitation efforts under the World Bank's GRAIL Project. The position is expected to contribute significantly to enhancing agricultural production, improving land use efficiency, and facilitating access to credit and land rights, particularly for women. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that land consolidation efforts align with broader agricultural and environmental objectives, ultimately leading to improved farm structures and local agricultural development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Junior Land Consolidation Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including assisting in operational tasks related to land consolidation, supporting the implementation of land consolidation activities under the GRAIL Project, and facilitating communication among relevant agencies. The specialist will prepare and oversee detailed workplans, organize regular progress meetings, maintain a centralized database of project documentation, and contribute to training and awareness-raising initiatives. Additionally, the role involves planning international missions, coordinating field activities, and preparing technical reports and deliverables as required. The specialist will play a key role in ensuring that all project outputs are delivered on time and meet the established workplans.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in administration" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Land Administration, Geomatics, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Law, Economics, or a related field. A minimum of one year of relevant experience in land administration, GIS, agriculture, law, or a related area is required. Candidates must also have a working knowledge of English at Level C and must be nationals of Georgia. The FAO core competencies include a focus on results, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing. Technical skills required include computer literacy with spreadsheets and databases, as well as excellent communication and coordination abilities.
Educational Background: The position requires a university degree in a relevant field such as Land Administration, Geomatics, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Law, or Economics. Candidates must have their educational qualifications recognized by the World Higher Education Database (WHED), ensuring that their degrees are from accredited institutions.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least one year of relevant experience in areas such as land administration, GIS, agriculture, or law. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, and development partners is considered an asset, as is prior experience in a UN organization. Familiarity with rural communities and farmers will also be beneficial.
Languages: A working knowledge of English at Level C is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context or the stakeholders involved in the project.
