Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments of SMEs to identify capacity gaps and areas for improvement.
Develop and implement tailored capacity-building programs for SMEs, focusing on operational efficiency, financial management, and market access.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions for SME owners and employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Collaborate with local stakeholders to create a supportive ecosystem for SMEs, including access to finance, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of capacity-building initiatives and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Prepare reports and documentation on the progress of the assignment, including success stories and lessons learned.
Engage in outreach activities to promote the benefits of enhanced SME capacity to a wider audience.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in capacity building and development of SMEs, preferably in a consulting or advisory role.
Strong understanding of the challenges faced by SMEs in Pakistan and the broader economic context.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with UNDP's mission and development goals is an advantage.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, or a related field is required. A master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline is preferred, as it demonstrates a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in SME development.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in SME development, capacity building, or economic development projects is required. Experience working with international organizations or development agencies is highly desirable, as it indicates familiarity with donor-funded projects and compliance requirements.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Urdu or other local languages is considered an asset, as it may facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders and SMEs.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position is for a duration of 90 days, spread over eleven months, indicating a flexible work schedule.
