Job Overview: The Risk Management Associate will be an integral part of the risk management team, reporting directly to the head of the unit. This position is crucial for supporting the implementation of risk management activities, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and enhancing the overall effectiveness of operations while optimizing resources. The associate will play a key role in promoting a culture of compliance and risk awareness within the organization. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them, as well as engaging with various stakeholders to ensure that risk management practices are understood and adhered to throughout the organization. The associate will also be responsible for preparing data for external stakeholders, contributing to the organization's transparency and accountability efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Risk Management Associate will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: supporting the implementation of risk management activities; contributing to the application of controls and adherence to policies and procedures; promoting operational efficiency and optimal resource utilization; assisting in the effective implementation of the internal control system; identifying training needs and organizing information sessions or training programs for colleagues and external stakeholders; preparing data for external stakeholders related to commitments to the United Nations system, donors, and partners; facilitating the timely reporting of allegations of fraud, corruption, or compliance issues; participating in internal monitoring as needed; developing and sharing tools to enhance compliance practices; and raising awareness about fraud prevention measures and misconduct reporting channels. The associate will also be expected to perform any other tasks as required by the unit.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a secondary school diploma, ideally complemented by a university degree in business, public administration, finance, accounting, international development, auditing, or a related field. Additional training in auditing, performance management, risk management, or related areas is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of risk management principles and practices, as well as the ability to analyze and resolve problems with ingenuity and tact. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across units are essential, as is a commitment to the organization's values and mission.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a secondary school diploma, with a preference for candidates who have completed a university degree in relevant fields such as business, public administration, finance, accounting, international development, or auditing. Additional qualifications in risk management or compliance-related training are strongly preferred, as they will enhance the candidate's ability to perform effectively in this role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least six years of progressively responsible experience in risk management, including assessing internal controls and formulating mitigation recommendations. Experience within a modern enterprise risk management system is ideal. The candidate should have a proven ability to analyze, evaluate, and resolve issues with creativity and discretion. Demonstrated experience in program or project management, as well as participation in monitoring, reporting, and performance analysis activities, is also required. Familiarity with risk analysis and the development or implementation of mitigation strategies is essential, along with experience in cross-unit collaboration on impact and planning issues.
Languages: Fluency in French, both spoken and written, is required for this position. A practical knowledge of English is desirable, as it will facilitate communication with international stakeholders and enhance the candidate's effectiveness in a multicultural environment.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and is open only to Haitian nationals. The contract duration is for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal.
