Job Overview:
The position is based in Haiti, where Solidarités International has been active since 200
  • The organization has built a solid experience in emergency response, particularly after significant events such as the Jeanne storm, the 2016 cyclone, and the 2021 earthquake. SI is a key player in the EHA (Emergency Humanitarian Assistance) sector, as well as in food security, livelihoods, and nutrition. For over ten years, SI has been working with the most vulnerable populations, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities. Due to the deteriorating security situation caused by organized criminal groups, SI currently operates in 17 displacement sites in Delmas, Cité-Soleil, and Port-au-Prince, improving access to water, sanitation infrastructure, and contributing to the prevention of waterborne diseases. SI also addresses immediate needs through income-generating activities and nutritional prevention actions targeting children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. As of March 2026, the country office consists of a coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team and an operational base in Port-au-Prince, with plans to open new intervention areas in 2026 depending on available funding.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The mission is currently in a significant phase of transition and development, which includes a growing operational volume, deployment in two new areas including the opening of a base in Artibonite, a need for structuring and establishing key procedures within the mission, and a review of the country strategy with a need for diversification of funding. The priorities for the first 2-3 months include continuing the implementation of all SI procedures within the mission, developing a funding search strategy to meet the growing needs in the country, supporting the formation of the partnership strategy, training and capacity building of the grants team, and assisting in the opening of two new intervention areas along with the development of the associated donor and partnership strategy.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree in political science, development, international relations, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0-2 years in a similar position. Technical skills required include knowledge of the rules and procedures of various institutional donors, mastery of partnership procedures, and strong writing, analytical, and synthesis skills. Transversal skills include planning, organization, coordination, diplomacy, adaptability, and the ability to work in an unstable security environment.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree in political science, development, international relations, or an equivalent field is required for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0-2 years in a similar role, indicating a need for both seasoned professionals and those who are relatively new to the field but have relevant experience.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, while knowledge of Haitian Creole is considered a plus, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.

  • The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month (2600 base salary plus 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly per diem of USD 75
  • SI also covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the place of assignment. During the mission, a work and leave alternation system is implemented, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with an additional day of rest for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from comprehensive health insurance covering all medical expenses, including surgical, dental, and ophthalmological care, as well as repatriation. Vaccination and essential malaria treatment costs are reimbursed. The position is based in Port-au-Prince, with accommodation provided in a guest house with individual rooms in a secure compound located 1 km from the office. The living standards are satisfactory, with amenities such as pools, tennis courts, and proximity to restaurants and supermarkets. The office is well-located in a residential area.
