Solidarités International (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters for over 40 years. SI operates in 26 countries with a total of 3,200 staff members, including expatriates, national employees, headquarters staff, and a few volunteers. SI's teams work with professionalism and commitment while respecting local cultures. In Haiti, SI has been active since 2004, building a solid emergency response experience after significant events such as the Jeanne storm, the 2016 cyclone, and the 2021 earthquake. SI is a key player in the EHA sector, food security, livelihoods, and nutrition, focusing on the most vulnerable populations, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities. The organization currently operates in 17 displacement sites in Delmas, Cité-Soleil, and Port-au-Prince, improving access to water, sanitation infrastructure, and contributing to the prevention of waterborne diseases. SI also addresses immediate needs through income-generating activities and nutritional prevention actions targeting children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. The Haiti mission has a budget volume of 6.5 million euros, primarily funded by emergency EHA programs supported by ECHO, UNICEF, SDC, CDCS, and OCHA. The mission collaborates with one local partner and several international partners.

Job Overview:
The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Grants Coordinator plays a crucial role in developing and monitoring the partnership and financial strategies of the country office. This position ensures optimal interdepartmental coordination in grant management and provides strategic support to the country office on donor relations, external representation, implementation partner management, external compliance, and accountability to donors. The mission is currently in a significant transition and development phase, which includes an increasing operational volume, deployment into two new areas, and a need for structuring and establishing key procedures within the mission. There is also a review of the country strategy and a need for funding diversification. The first 2-3 months will focus on implementing SI procedures within the mission, developing a funding search strategy to meet growing needs in the country, supporting the formation of the partnership strategy, training and capacity building for the grants team, and assisting in the opening of two new intervention areas and the associated donor and partnership strategy development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Coordinator is responsible for the following duties:
  • Develop and implement partnership and funding strategies for the country office.
  • Ensure effective coordination among departments regarding grant management.
  • Provide strategic support on donor relations and external representation.
  • Manage implementation partners and ensure compliance with external regulations.
  • Monitor and report on grant performance and accountability to donors.
  • Facilitate training and capacity building for the grants team.
  • Assist in the opening of new intervention areas and develop associated strategies.
  • Conduct regular reviews of funding strategies and identify opportunities for diversification.
  • Ensure adherence to SI procedures and policies within the mission. 1
  • Collaborate with local and international partners to enhance program effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of the rules and procedures of various institutional donors.
  • Mastery of partnership procedures.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and synthesis skills.
  • Strong planning, organization, and coordination abilities.
  • Diplomatic skills and experience working in intercultural environments.
  • Adaptability and the ability to work in unstable security environments.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree in political science, development, international relations, or a related field. An equivalent qualification may also be considered.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0-2 years in a similar position. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of grant management and partnership development.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, while knowledge of Haitian Creole is considered a plus.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, under a short-term contract lasting 3 months. The salary is competitive, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month (2600 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly), along with a monthly per diem of USD 75
  • SI also covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. During the mission, a work and leave alternation system is in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with an additional day of rest for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from comprehensive health insurance covering medical, surgical, dental, and optical expenses, as well as repatriation costs. Vaccination and essential malaria treatment costs are reimbursed. Living conditions include accommodation in a guest house with individual rooms in a secure compound located 1 km from the office, with amenities such as a swimming pool and tennis court. The office is situated in a residential area, providing access to restaurants, supermarkets, and shops.
