The organization emphasizes the importance of mainstreaming gender equality and women's empowerment in UN operations, particularly in the context of climate change and environmental issues.

Job Overview:
The consultant will be responsible for preparing and delivering an online gender mainstreaming training program. This includes developing the agenda, materials, and presentations based on UN Women’s Gender Mainstreaming Guidance and best practices from relevant agencies such as UNEP, FAO, and WFP. The training will consist of two workstreams, each accommodating 20-25 participants, which will include personnel from UN Women and other agencies. Each workstream will involve nine hours of contact time. Additionally, the consultant will facilitate an online reflection session for participants to discuss their learnings and how they will apply their new skills in advancing gender mainstreaming within the context of CA/UNSDCF development and implementation. A summary report documenting the training process, participant reflections, and training materials will also be required as part of the deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the agenda, materials, and presentations for the online gender mainstreaming training, ensuring alignment with UN Women’s Gender Mainstreaming Guidance.
  • Integrate illustrative case studies and linkages to the UN System-Wide Gender Equality Acceleration Platform in the training content.
  • Deliver the training through two workstreams, each consisting of 20-25 participants, ensuring effective engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Facilitate an online reflection session approximately one hour in duration, allowing participants to reflect on their learnings and discuss implementation strategies.
  • Compile a summary report that includes participant lists, agenda, key discussion points, and reflections, along with training materials as an annex.
  • Ensure all deliverables are completed by the specified deadlines, with payment made upon receipt of the final deliverable.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in gender studies, development studies, politics, economics, or a related field.
  • A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in gender mainstreaming is required.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training for UN Women and other UN entities is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of gender mainstreaming processes, frameworks, and challenges within the UN System is required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in fields such as gender studies, development studies, politics, economics, or a related area. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in gender mainstreaming. Candidates should have a strong background in designing and delivering training programs specifically for UN Women and other UN entities, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of gender mainstreaming processes and challenges within the UN System.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN language is considered desirable, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and participants.

This consultancy is home-based, meaning that travel is not required. The expected completion date for the contract is 8 October 202
