Job Overview:
The STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Zambia Program Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive program management support and coordination for the STRIDES project in Zambia. This role involves ensuring that all aspects of the project are executed on schedule and within budget. The Program Manager will oversee project planning, execution, monitoring, and tracking of contractual deliverables, while also streamlining communications among team members and stakeholders. The position requires the ability to identify and resolve project issues, implement improvement plans, and ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations. The Program Manager will regularly evaluate project progress, monitor subcontractor performance, and provide capacity-building support as needed. This role is crucial for integrating work plans and budgets across multiple sectors to ensure the project's success and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Manager will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing management support throughout the project lifecycle, facilitating the development of a comprehensive project management plan, guiding and monitoring project staff, identifying partnerships and opportunities to achieve project goals, developing best practices for project execution, reviewing and revising project schedules, delivering project plans and documentation, resolving project issues, evaluating project progress, supporting staffing plans, and ensuring all team members receive appropriate orientation. Additionally, the Program Manager will establish communication schedules to update stakeholders, determine resource requirements, and implement best practices for task performance. The role also involves managing staff and external project members to achieve project goals and coordinating project plans with management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or its international equivalent in Health, Nutrition, International Development, Social Science, or a related field. A Master's degree in management studies, public health, or a related field is preferred. Project Management (PM) Certification is also preferred. The ideal candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of project management principles and practices, as well as experience working with USG-funded contract awards. Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to influence and motivate team members.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Health, Nutrition, International Development, or Social Science. A Master's degree in a related area is preferred, as is a Project Management Certification. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of project management and the specific challenges associated with health and development projects.

Experience:
The position typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in project management, with at least 2+ years in a line management role. Candidates should have prior experience working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government agencies, or private organizations, particularly in global health projects, including those funded by the US government. Experience in program development or project management, especially in areas related to Global Health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security, immunization, malaria, and nutrition, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly if they relate to the local context or the communities served by the project.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and based in Lusaka, Zambia. The expected hiring salary range for this role is ZMW 400,000 - 600,000 for annual gross salary, which includes basic pay and allowances. The final offer will be determined based on various factors, including the applicant's relevant experience and education, internal equity, market pay, and budget considerations.
