Job Overview: The ET Consultant position at the World Bank involves working within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit, which plays a crucial role in enabling the organization to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity. The consultant will be responsible for delivering transformative information and technologies to staff across over 150 locations. The role requires a strong focus on modernizing infrastructure, driving technology-enabled innovation, and enhancing organizational agility. The consultant will work closely with the Technology Platforms Team to develop and maintain secure, cloud-first IT platforms, ensuring they align with enterprise standards and meet the institution's computing needs. This position is pivotal in bridging legacy middleware stability with cloud-native modernization, utilizing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, automation engineering, and DevSecOps to ensure platform reliability and operational improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the ET Consultant include implementing and operationalizing SRE practices, managing and supporting legacy middleware technologies while driving modernization efforts, designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and building self-service solutions. The consultant will monitor platform health through observability tooling, lead knowledge transfer and documentation efforts, and contribute to the Platform as a Product strategy. Additionally, the consultant will ensure compliance with ITSM processes, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards, and business continuity requirements, including disaster recovery planning and SLA adherence. The role requires a proactive approach to increasing platform resilience and reducing dependency on manual interventions, as well as fostering collaboration across the organization to leverage technology for development impact.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hands-on experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is essential, along with proven experience with legacy middleware platforms and modern application stacks. Strong proficiency in DevOps/DevSecOps tooling, multi-cloud platforms, and scripting/automation skills is required. Excellent communication skills are necessary to translate complex technical concepts into clear documentation and stakeholder-facing reporting.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering, with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a similar field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Experience: The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically a minimum of 5 years for candidates with a Master's degree or 7 years for those with a Bachelor's degree.
