Job Overview:
The Investment Analyst position is crucial for supporting the implementation of investments and solutions in the Digital Access and Affordability sector. The role involves developing new business opportunities, executing transactions, and managing key global client relationships. The analyst will prepare sector mappings, strategies, and management briefings, while also benchmarking and analyzing industry trends. This position is integral to advancing the WBG's mission by ensuring effective public and private sector solutions are implemented to enhance internet access and usage in emerging markets. The analyst will collaborate closely with sector leads, industry specialists, and regional teams, contributing to market research and supporting the overall strategy of the Digital Access Solutions & Impact Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Analyst will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Innovation & Structuring: Assisting in the design and implementation of innovative investment solutions to address barriers to internet access in emerging markets. This includes identifying new approaches and business models that can enhance private sector participation.
  • Investment Analysis & Execution: Screening and analyzing new business opportunities, building financial models to assess project viability, and preparing investment proposal documents for senior management.
  • Market Research & Strategy: Conducting industry and market research, contributing to the development of the Digital Access & Affordability sector strategy, and preparing reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Business Development & Portfolio Support: Supporting internal analysis and marketing efforts, preparing pitch books, and monitoring portfolio performance to assess profitability and impact.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration: Organizing webinars and conferences, disseminating lessons learned, and collaborating with WBG teams to implement scalable investment solutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, preferably with a specialization in Finance, Business, or Economics. They should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in an international investment bank, commercial bank, private equity firm, consulting, or asset management firm. Strong quantitative skills and experience in financial modeling are essential, along with analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required, and familiarity with Bloomberg or Capital IQ is a plus. Candidates should demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work in multicultural teams, along with excellent presentation and communication skills in English.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally with a focus on Finance, Business, or Economics. This educational background is essential for understanding the financial aspects of investment analysis and execution, as well as for conducting market research and strategy development.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant work experience in fields such as investment banking, commercial banking, private equity, consulting, or asset management. Experience in the digital infrastructure or digital development sectors is advantageous, as it aligns with the focus of the role on digital access and affordability.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly Spanish or French, is preferred and would be beneficial in enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
