Job Overview: The Data Analyst/Sr. Data Analyst position within the Strategy and Evaluation Division (ICDSE) of the Institute for Capacity Development (ICD) is a critical role aimed at supporting the governance and strategy of the Fund’s capacity development (CD) program. This program is significant, accounting for approximately one-third of the Fund's output. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and analyzing data related to the Fund’s capacity development activities, which includes improving data quality, automating reporting processes, and delivering actionable analytics. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that data practices are strengthened and that the outputs meet the needs of the organization. The overarching goal is to enhance the impact and efficiency of the Fund’s capacity development initiatives, aligning them with the broader objectives of the IMF.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Data Analyst/Sr. Data Analyst will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Analyzing the IMF’s internal Capacity Development Management and Administration Program (CDMAP) data by extracting, validating, cleaning, and analyzing datasets to identify trends and produce analytical outputs for stakeholders.
Developing Power BI reporting by building, enhancing, and maintaining dashboards and reports, troubleshooting access issues, and documenting standard operating procedures.
Strengthening data quality and governance by implementing checks for completeness, consistency, and timeliness, maintaining reference data, and supporting governance standards.
Automating and improving processes by streamlining data collection and reporting, proposing automation options, and enhancing the reliability of analytics products.
Delivering data products on request by preparing validated extracts and summaries, developing supporting materials, and maintaining version control.
Collaborating across teams to align requirements, resolve data issues, and ensure consistent reporting.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent in programming/systems, computer science, statistics, finance, mathematics, economics, or a related field. Alternatively, a minimum of two years of experience in a related position at Grade A05 or equivalent is required. The successful candidate should demonstrate experience working with datasets end-to-end, including ingestion, cleaning, validation, transformation, and analysis. Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational data models are essential, along with strong skills in Power BI, including data modeling and report/dashboard design. Familiarity with data pipelines and automation tools, advanced MS Excel skills, and hands-on data management capabilities are also required. The ability to translate business questions into analytical requirements and deliver clear communication is crucial.
Educational Background: A university degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as programming/systems, computer science, statistics, finance, mathematics, or economics is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for effective data analysis and management within the context of the IMF’s capacity development initiatives.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a data analysis role, preferably within an organization similar to the IMF. This experience should encompass end-to-end data management processes, including data ingestion, cleaning, validation, transformation, and analysis. Familiarity with the specific tools and methodologies used in data analysis and reporting is essential for success in this position.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the IMF. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly if they relate to the member countries served by the IMF, but they are not explicitly required for this role.
