Job Overview:
The Head of Strategy & Delivery is a pivotal role within the IRC, responsible for both the development of the organization's strategic framework and the leadership of its execution. This position requires a blend of long-term strategic vision and practical problem-solving skills, ensuring that the IRC's critical priorities are not only well-defined but also effectively implemented. The role involves close collaboration with the President/CEO and executive leadership, serving as a senior thought partner on high-stakes strategic issues while addressing the organization's most pressing challenges. The Head of Strategy & Delivery will oversee the implementation of IRC's Strategy100 (S100), which outlines the strategic direction leading up to the organization's centenary in 203

• This includes championing the strategy, tracking progress, and ensuring that the organization is equipped to meet its strategic goals. The position demands exceptional leadership capabilities, emotional intelligence, and the ability to manage a diverse, high-performing team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary champion and steward of IRC’s multi-year strategy, S100, ensuring alignment and momentum across the organization and in external engagement.
• Act as a strategic thought partner to the President, COO, CFO, and other Executive Board members on key organizational and sector-wide questions, including budget decisions.
• Assess organizational progress toward S100 priorities in collaboration with leaders across the organization.
• Lead preparation for each phase of S100, reviewing results, assessing the external environment, and refining strategic priorities.
• Oversee a portfolio of complex delivery-focused projects, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
• Monitor overall organizational performance and advise senior leadership on strategic efforts and enterprise risk management.
• Identify and triage challenges in delivering on organizational goals, assigning them to appropriate teams for resolution.
• Facilitate discussions with senior leaders on organizational health and performance gaps.
• Define the mission and focus areas of the Strategy & Delivery Unit, overseeing project development and delivery. 1
• Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional talent, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. 1
• Represent the Strategy & Delivery Unit in internal and external forums, advocating for strategic priorities and delivery excellence.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
• At least 10-12 years of relevant work experience, including strategic analysis, organizational performance, project management, and advisory roles.
• Proven track record of high performance with increasing responsibilities in strategy development and delivery functions.
• Deep strategic thinking ability, with experience in leading organizations through change.
• Exceptional advisory and influence skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders effectively.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of managing multiple competing demands.
• Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Understanding of and passion for IRC’s mission and the humanitarian sector.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for candidates holding an MBA, Master’s degree, or equivalent in fields related to international development, human rights, or similar areas relevant to IRC's work.

Experience:
Candidates should possess at least 10-12 years of relevant work experience, demonstrating a strong background in strategic analysis, organizational performance, and project management. Experience in leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives in complex environments is essential, along with a proven ability to manage and influence senior leaders.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages such as French, Arabic, or Spanish is considered a valuable asset and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in New York, with some international travel required. The role may allow for remote work, either full-time or part-time, with part-time remote employees potentially required to share workspace. The compensation for this role ranges from $165,000 to $195,000, depending on various factors including the labor market, job type, and individual candidate experience.
