Job Overview: The Reporting and Communication Officer (RCO) will play a crucial role in the mission by overseeing the launch, coordination, review, compilation, and timely submission of high-quality reports that meet donor and organizational requirements. The RCO will work closely with program and support teams to ensure compliance with donor regulations and strengthen accountability. Additionally, the RCO will be responsible for designing a communication strategy aimed at external audiences, enhancing international communication at the coordination level, and improving internal communication with field bases. The position requires a proactive approach to capacity building, particularly for the Reporting and Communication Support Officer, and involves coordinating various teams and stakeholders to produce consistent and accurate project documentation. The RCO will also prioritize the submission of reports in accordance with donor deadlines and develop communication materials that fulfill donor commitments while promoting the visibility of the South Sudan mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The RCO's duties and responsibilities include:
Coordinating the launch, review, and submission of high-quality reports and annexes in compliance with donor requirements.
Supporting the capacity building of the Reporting and Communication Support Officer.
Designing and implementing a communication strategy for external audiences under the guidance of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director.
Enhancing international communication at the coordination level and improving internal communication with field bases.
Ensuring compliance with donor regulations to strengthen accountability.
Collaborating with Project Managers (PMs) and Project Management Assistants (PMAs) to enhance team capacity in reporting and communication.
Coordinating various teams and stakeholders to produce consistent, accurate, and high-quality project documents.
Facilitating the submission of reports in accordance with donor deadlines, including monthly and interim reports.
Developing and updating the communication plan based on mission needs and donor-specific requirements. 1
Producing communication materials that fulfill donor commitments and enhance the mission's visibility. 1
Providing training for program teams on grants and communication.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a master's degree in a relevant field such as economics, project management, social sciences, or international development, or have equivalent professional experience. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of donor reporting mechanisms and the guidelines of the mission’s donors. Technical knowledge of security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security and WASH activities is desirable but not essential. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent analytical, writing, and summarization skills, as well as strong organizational and prioritization abilities. Adaptability, calmness under pressure, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential. Teamwork and interpersonal skills are crucial, along with a personal commitment to upholding SI's values of neutrality, impartiality, and independence.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have a master's degree in a relevant field such as economics, project management, social sciences, or international development. Equivalent professional experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and effectively managing reporting and communication tasks.
Experience: The position requires 0-2 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a preference for candidates who have experience in similar roles. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the candidate is familiar with the challenges and dynamics of working in a humanitarian context, particularly in South Sudan, where the situation is volatile and requires a nuanced understanding of the environment.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Strong communication skills in English are essential for producing high-quality reports and communication materials, as well as for effective collaboration with international teams and stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: The position is a short-term contract lasting 8 months, with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance. The salary starts from EUR 1750 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, along with a monthly per diem of USD 70
SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented, allowing for breaks every three months, with an additional rest day granted for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package that covers healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs, as well as essential vaccinations and antimalarial treatments.
