Job Overview:
The National UN Volunteer Specialist position at UNICEF Sri Lanka is crucial for addressing the educational challenges faced by children in the country, particularly in the wake of climate-related disasters and socioeconomic vulnerabilities. The role involves supporting the Education Cluster's coordination functions, enhancing supply chain efficiency for emergency education supplies, and providing administrative support for climate education initiatives. The Specialist will work closely with the Education Officer and other stakeholders to ensure that education systems remain resilient and inclusive, capable of meeting the needs of children affected by emergencies and long-term climate risks. This position requires a proactive approach to disaster response and a commitment to improving educational outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Emergency Response-related Supply Monitoring Support: Coordinate with the Education Section, Supply Team, and suppliers to ensure timely procurement and delivery of educational materials. Maintain accurate supply records and support documentation to ensure transparency. 2) Administrative and Logistical Support: Provide logistical support for workshops and training sessions, including preparation of materials, travel arrangements, and venue coordination. Document program activities and maintain effective document repository systems. 3) Additional Support: Assist with any other tasks assigned by the Education Section based on evolving priorities and needs. This may include stakeholder communication and helping partners access key resources and operational information.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively are essential. Familiarity with supply chain management and administrative processes is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's core values and principles, particularly in relation to child safeguarding and ethical conduct.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in project management, logistics, or emergency response would be advantageous. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the educational landscape in Sri Lanka and the challenges faced by children in the context of emergencies and climate change.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in education, humanitarian response, or project management. Experience working with UN agencies or NGOs in similar roles is preferred. Familiarity with the education sector in Sri Lanka and experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Sinhala or Tamil is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
