Job Overview: The MMC Officer - 4Mi will play a crucial role in supporting the regional team in the implementation of the Mixed Migration Monitoring Mechanism Initiative (4Mi) across Asia. This position involves providing day-to-day administrative support to ensure that 4Mi operates smoothly. The officer will assist in various tasks, including managing data collection processes, supporting the recruitment of partners and consultants, and ensuring compliance with data collection activities. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large datasets, as well as collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance understanding of migration dynamics and inform policy responses. The officer will also contribute to the development of research agendas and ensure adherence to MMC standards and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: The MMC Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: 1) Supporting the administrative needs of 4Mi across Asia and the Pacific; 2) Assisting in basic grants management for 4Mi; 3) Facilitating the recruitment process for partners and consultants involved in data collection; 4) Managing the storage and archiving of relevant documents; 5) Assisting in the research cycle management, including planning, data collection, cleaning, and analysis; 6) Organizing training sessions for data collection; 7) Collaborating with partners to ensure compliance with data collection activities; 8) Managing the translation of tools and materials; 9) Assisting in data management, cleaning, and analysis; 10) Supporting the production of information products and visuals; 11) Contributing to the development of the MMC MEA’s research agenda; 12) Staying updated on migration trends; 13) Ensuring compliance with MMC standards and guidelines; 14) Working with specialists to improve information management tools.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as data science, international relations, public administration, or social sciences. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of IT systems, including Microsoft Office and online data collection platforms. Familiarity with specialized analysis software like SPSS, R, or Stata is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to produce clear analyses for diverse audiences, possess excellent organizational skills, and have strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment. Previous experience in data collection in humanitarian settings and knowledge of mixed migration contexts is an asset.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, with preferred areas of study including data science, international relations, public administration, political science, sociology, social science, or international development. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of migration dynamics and data analysis.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of professional experience, particularly in roles that involve strong analytical skills and the handling of large datasets. Experience in data collection activities, especially in humanitarian contexts, is highly valued. Familiarity with mixed migration projects in the region is also desirable, as it will enhance the officer's ability to contribute effectively to the team.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of a regional language is considered desirable, as it may facilitate communication and data collection in the local context.
