Job Overview: The ET Consultant position at the World Bank involves working within the MNA Water Unit, which is dedicated to addressing complex challenges related to water resources management, sanitation, and agricultural productivity in Tunisia. The consultant will be part of the Tunisia Water team, focusing on the preparation and implementation of investment projects and analytical activities that inform the water sector agenda. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government institutions and other operational units, to ensure effective implementation of World Bank-supported programs. The consultant will contribute to the development of water-related projects that aim to improve water services, enhance governance in the water sector, and increase agricultural productivity, thereby supporting the overall mission of the World Bank in fostering sustainable development in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties including: contributing to the preparation and implementation support of water projects; identifying and pursuing analyses that inform the Bank’s support to client countries; collaborating with task team leaders and team members to advance policy dialogue and coordination with national stakeholders; following innovations and best practices in the water sector; supporting multidisciplinary supervision missions; and advising on adherence to the World Bank’s operational policies. The consultant will also work closely with client institutions to ensure effective implementation of programs and will coordinate with colleagues from various Global Practices as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as water resources management, environmental engineering, or economics, along with at least 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong theoretical and technical foundation in water-related subjects is essential, as well as operational and analytical skills. Familiarity with World Bank investment and analytical products is desirable, along with the ability to work well in multi-disciplinary teams and strong communication skills in English, French, and Arabic.
Educational Background: A Master's degree is required for this position, ideally in fields related to water resources management, environmental engineering, infrastructure, or economics. The educational background should provide a strong theoretical understanding of water management principles and practices, as well as relevant technical skills.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a relevant field, which may include water supply, irrigation and drainage, environmental engineering, or related areas. Experience working in Tunisia and familiarity with the local context and political economy are highly valued, as they will enhance the candidate's ability to contribute effectively to the World Bank's Water program in the region.
Languages: Proficiency in English, French, and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Strong written and oral communication skills in these languages are essential for effective collaboration and engagement with stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
