Job Overview:

The intern will be integrated into a small, dynamic team that collaborates closely with various stakeholders, including the EU Partnership Lead, Senior EU advisor" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Advocacy Advisor, Regional coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Finance Coordinator, and the EU Director. The role involves monitoring developments related to EU funding mechanisms, analyzing policies, and contributing to the overall advocacy strategy of DRC in relation to humanitarian crises and conflict-affected areas. The intern will also assist in maintaining databases, organizing meetings, and drafting written materials, thereby gaining valuable insights into the workings of EU institutions and the humanitarian sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: monitoring and analyzing developments related to ECHO, MENA, INTPA, NEAR, and FPI funding; providing relevant analyses to colleagues; supporting quantitative and qualitative funding analyses; maintaining DRC’s ECHO and EC Development grant databases; assisting with logistics and scheduling for internal and external meetings; drafting internal and external written products; supporting stakeholder mapping and maintaining contact lists; managing InSite pages and communication tools; creating news briefings; formatting and proofreading documents; and providing general administrative support. Additional tasks may be assigned based on the qualifications of the selected candidate, allowing for a diverse range of experiences within the role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree, with a bachelor's degree being the minimum requirement and a master's degree being recommended in fields such as law, social sciences, international development, or humanitarian aid. Proficiency in MS Office and Office 365 is essential, particularly in Excel for data collection and funding analyses. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. The candidate should demonstrate a systematic, organized approach to work, attention to detail, and a commitment to completing tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor's degree as a minimum, with a preference for candidates holding a master's degree in relevant fields such as law, social sciences, international development, or humanitarian aid. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian operations and the legal frameworks governing EU institutions and funding.

Experience:
While the position is open to recent graduates and candidates with limited professional experience, a strong interest in humanitarian operations, global displacement, and migration is essential. Languages:
Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Additional Notes:
The internship is a paid position lasting for 6 months, with the possibility of extension for an additional 6 months. It is classified under a Belgian contract known as "Contrat belge d’Immersion Professionelle" (CIP).
