Job Overview:
The UNV/Project Assistant for the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security and Justice Sectors will play a vital role in supporting the implementation of the SAWASYA III joint programme, which aims to reinforce equal access to justice for all Palestinians. This position is based in Gaza and involves close collaboration with the UN Women Rule of Law and Protection Specialist and the Programme Analyst. The Project Assistant will be responsible for ensuring efficient project implementation, maintaining communication with partners, compiling reports, and facilitating meetings. The role requires a proactive approach to support the operational activities of UN Women in Gaza, particularly in the context of the unique political and social challenges faced in the region. The assistant will also contribute to the broader goals of promoting women's rights and access to justice, aligning with UN Women’s strategic objectives for the period 2023-2027.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Assistant will undertake a variety of tasks, including: supporting partners in the implementation of programme activities, maintaining a project follow-up system, compiling data and preparing reports, monitoring partner organizations' work, providing advice to ensure optimal resource use, reviewing quarterly reports, facilitating discussions among civil society organizations (CSOs), supporting the Rule of Law and Access to Justice Scale Up in Gaza, arranging appointments and meetings, organizing workshops and events, assisting in developing project work plans, supporting audit and evaluation missions, creating e-requisitions, drafting correspondence in Arabic and English, maintaining proper filing of programme documents, and attending relevant coordination meetings. The assistant will also engage in activities that promote volunteerism and community engagement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and respect for diversity. They should possess excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to continuous learning. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage a large volume of work efficiently, adapt to changing environments, and operate independently in challenging conditions. A genuine commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement and UN Women’s mission is essential.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in social sciences, law, international relations, or a related field is required. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in gender studies, human rights, or public administration will be preferred. Knowledge of UN Women’s policies and procedures is an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in project management, administration, or a related field, preferably within the UN system or NGOs focused on gender equality and women's empowerment. Experience working in the occupied Palestinian territory or similar contexts is highly desirable. Familiarity with the justice and security sectors in Gaza will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the region would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Gaza, with an initial contract duration of 6 months, subject to extension based on funding and performance. The position offers a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 8,777.05 per month, which includes hardship and danger allowances. The UN Volunteer is responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. Life, health, and permanent disability insurance are provided, along with health insurance for up to three dependents and an exit allowance for satisfactory service.
