Job Overview: The Resource Mobilisation (RM) & Partnership Analyst plays a crucial role in the UNFPA Country Office in Kabul, Afghanistan. This position is integral to the design, analysis, and implementation of resource mobilization and partnership strategies that align with the organization's mission and objectives. The Analyst is responsible for providing coordination, information management, and operational support to enhance partnership engagement, donor reporting, and resource mobilization activities. This role requires close collaboration with program and communication functions to ensure effective partnership engagement and visibility efforts. The Analyst will report directly to the Resource Mobilization Partnership Specialist and will contribute to maintaining relationships with partners while supporting the preparation of proposals, reports, and communication materials. The position is vital for ensuring that UNFPA's strategic goals are met, particularly in a complex global environment where the organization seeks to accelerate the implementation of the Programme of Action from the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the RM & Partnership Analyst include:
Partnership Engagement: Supporting the development and strengthening of partnerships through substantive inputs to engagement strategies and follow-up actions. Preparing analytical briefs, background notes, and strategic inputs to support senior management engagement with partners. Coordinating day-to-day interactions with international and domestic partners, including scheduling, follow-ups, and documentation of engagements. Analyzing the partnership landscape to identify strategic opportunities aligned with program priorities. Maintaining and analyzing partnership data to inform decision-making and prioritization.
Resource Mobilization Support: Analyzing funding opportunities and providing recommendations on positioning and engagement. Drafting and contributing to the preparation of concept notes and proposals, ensuring compliance with donor requirements. Supporting the integration of results-based narratives and evidence into proposals. Identifying and monitoring funding opportunities and maintaining internal records of funding pipelines. Contributing to the development of resource mobilization strategies based on analysis of donor priorities and funding trends.
Donor Reporting: Contributing to the analysis and consolidation of donor reports, ensuring quality and coherence. Providing substantive inputs to reporting, including synthesis of program results, challenges, and lessons learned. Monitoring reporting deadlines and proactively following up with program teams to ensure timely submission of inputs.
Communication and Visibility: Contributing to the development of communication and visibility approaches and materials, ensuring alignment with local context. Drafting and curating results-based communication products, including briefs and stories that highlight program impact.
Information Management and Coordination: Analyzing partnership and funding data to support strategic planning and decision-making. Providing administrative and coordination support to partnership-related processes across program teams. Supporting coordination between program teams and partnership engagement efforts to ensure coherence between program priorities and resource mobilization efforts. Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designated authority.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced university degree in international relations, public administration, economics, communications, business administration, or other related fields. Candidates should possess at least two years of relevant professional experience in partnerships, program support, communications, resource mobilization, or related areas, preferably within the national context. Experience in supporting proposal preparation or donor reporting is desirable, and previous experience with international organizations or multilateral agencies is an advantage. Familiarity with information management, coordination, or program support functions is also desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold an advanced university degree in fields such as international relations, public administration, economics, communications, business administration, or other related disciplines. This educational background is essential to equip the candidate with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively perform the duties of the RM & Partnership Analyst.
Experience: The position requires at least two years of relevant professional experience in partnerships, program support, communications, resource mobilization, or related areas. This experience should preferably be within the national context, providing the candidate with insights into local dynamics and challenges. Experience in supporting proposal preparation or donor reporting is considered desirable, as is previous experience with international organizations or multilateral agencies. Familiarity with information management, coordination, or program support functions is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English and the local languages Dari and/or Pashto is required for this position. A working knowledge of other UN languages would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and partners.
