Job Overview: The National Consultant position at UN Women focuses on supporting private companies and business associations in implementing the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). The consultant will provide technical and coordination support to enhance gender equality and women's economic empowerment within the private sector. This role is crucial in the context of Ukraine, where the ongoing conflict has exacerbated gender inequalities and economic challenges for women. The consultant will work closely with the WEE Programme Specialist and other team members to assess, develop, and adapt internal policies and practices related to gender equality. The consultant will also engage in capacity-building activities, support data collection and management, and facilitate communication with stakeholders to promote women's economic empowerment initiatives. This position requires a strong understanding of gender issues and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners to achieve impactful results.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at advancing the implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Principles. Key responsibilities include:
Providing support to private companies and business associations in reviewing, developing, and adapting internal policies and practices related to gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
Contributing to self-assessments and the development of Gender Action Plans.
Developing, consolidating, and maintaining databases related to WEPs activities, ensuring data accuracy and regular updates.
Supporting the implementation and coordination of WEPs engagement activities in line with programme priorities.
Identifying and sharing relevant opportunities for companies related to WEPs implementation.
Preparing regular progress updates and final reports, including consolidation of data, lessons learned, and recommendations.
Engaging with companies through online and in-person formats, including possible field visits to partner companies and business associations.
Assisting with ad hoc requests related to WEPs implementation and partnership development.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced (Master's) degree in Economics, Marketing, Sociology, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in the fields of labor market, private sector, gender equality, and women's economic empowerment. Previous experience in providing training and consulting for private businesses on women's economic empowerment is essential. Candidates should also have experience in gender analysis, surveys, research, assessments, and the development of gender-responsive policies and procedures. Proven experience working with various stakeholders, including private sector entities, civil society organizations, and development partners, is required. Experience with UN organizations will be considered an asset. A strong understanding of gender equality and the Women’s Empowerment Principles is also necessary.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced (Master's) degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Marketing, Sociology, Gender Studies, or Social Sciences.
