Job Overview: The National Professional Officer position focuses on coordinating activities related to rehabilitation and assistive technologies in Ukraine. The role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, to ensure effective implementation of WHO programs aimed at addressing the rehabilitation needs of the population. The officer will assist in organizing training sessions for local rehabilitation personnel, support capacity-building initiatives, and contribute to reporting and analysis related to rehabilitation services. Duties and Responsibilities: The key duties of the National Professional Officer include:
Assisting the Technical Officer on Disability and Rehabilitation in implementing WHO activities related to rehabilitation and assistive technologies.
Organizing deployments of multidisciplinary teams of international rehabilitation experts for training and capacity-building activities.
Coordinating training activities for primary health care facilities and community workers on rehabilitation and assistive technologies.
Supporting capacity-building initiatives for clinical multidisciplinary training centers and hospitals.
Producing reports for donors and WHO on rehabilitation and assistive technologies.
Collecting and analyzing information to prepare reports and situation analyses.
Collaborating with organizations of people with disabilities to develop community support programs.
Assisting in managing WHO visits and missions to Ukraine, ensuring follow-up on recommendations.
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a university degree (Bachelor's level or equivalent) in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, public health, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or social sciences. A Master's degree or postgraduate training in these fields is desirable. Candidates should possess excellent analytical and writing skills, the ability to work in uncertain environments, and strong data management capabilities. Proficiency in computer applications such as word processing and spreadsheets is essential, along with emotional intelligence and the ability to interact with high-level stakeholders.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a university degree at the Bachelor's level or equivalent in relevant fields such as Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, public health, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or social sciences. A Master's degree or additional postgraduate training in these areas is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least one year of clinical experience as a rehabilitation professional in the rehabilitation sector. Relevant work experience in international environments, such as WHO, UN, governmental or non-governmental organizations, is desirable. Experience in coordination and reporting on programmatic activities related to capacity building or procurement in rehabilitation and assistive technologies is also preferred. Additionally, experience in project management within the humanitarian sector is beneficial, particularly in emergency response contexts.
Languages: Expert knowledge of English and Ukrainian is essential for this position. Intermediate knowledge of another WHO language is desirable, which may enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a maternity leave replacement and is classified as a National Professional Officer role, meaning only applications from Ukrainian nationals will be accepted. The remuneration for this position starts at USD 33,420 annually, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Staff members are entitled to 30 days of annual leave.
