Job Overview:
The Project and Finance Assistant position is integral to the ILO Country Office for Ukraine, which is implementing the ILO Transitional Cooperation Strategy for Ukraine for 2024–202
  • This strategy focuses on three main pillars: investing in people, creating quality employment and sustainable enterprises, and improving labor market governance and social dialogue. The assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the project titled 'Promoting Inclusive Labour Market Governance Reform in Support of Ukraine’s Reconstruction and EU Accession.' This project aims to enhance the capacity of tripartite constituents to make informed decisions regarding labor law reforms and improve their ability to apply newly adopted laws and policies. The assistant will be responsible for ensuring smooth project administration, office management, and operational support, working closely with the project manager and other team members to achieve project outcomes effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project and Finance Assistant will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: ensuring the smooth functioning of project administration and office management; providing management and administrative support to the project; processing entitlements and issuing contracts; maintaining records and files; advising project staff on administrative rules and procedures; making travel arrangements and preparing travel authorizations; compiling socioeconomic data and drafting reports on project activities; organizing data and maintaining records for project monitoring and evaluation; preparing meeting minutes and translating documents between English and Ukrainian; participating in ILO activities and assisting with workplan development; providing financial and administrative information; liaising with other agencies and maintaining budget records; checking commitments and expenditures; preparing background information for program and budget discussions; organizing special meetings and workshops; and providing interpretation services when required. The assistant will also support communication efforts, ensuring that project updates are reflected on ILO social media platforms.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary school education, supplemented by technical or university-level courses relevant to the work of the organization. Specialized training in a field pertinent to the ILO's work and previous experience with UN organizations will be advantageous. The role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to ethical conduct and integrity in their work.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes completion of secondary school education, along with additional technical or university-level courses in fields related to finance, administration, or project management. Specialized training relevant to the ILO's work will be considered a plus, as will any previous experience within UN frameworks or similar organizations.

Experience:
Candidates should possess at least six years of progressively responsible experience in finance and/or administrative roles, with a minimum of one year in program support activities. Experience in similar positions within UN or ILO projects will be given special consideration, highlighting the importance of familiarity with international labor standards and project management.

Languages:
Fluency in both Ukrainian and English, with excellent oral and written communication skills in both languages, is mandatory for this position. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication within the project and with various stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and performance. The entry-level salary for this position is set at 25,364 USD per year.
