Job Overview:
This internship is part of the Enterprise Solutions Service within the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS) at UNESCAP. The position is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week. Interns will work under the supervision of a staff member and will engage in various tasks that align with their academic background and skills. The internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in software development, particularly in writing code using Java, Spring Boot, and React. Interns will also be involved in deploying and testing applications, committing code to Git, participating in weekly meetings, and preparing documentation and demonstrations of applications. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will have a range of responsibilities that may vary based on their individual backgrounds and skills. Key duties include:
  • Writing and developing code in Java, Spring Boot, and React.
  • Deploying applications and conducting thorough testing to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Committing code changes to version control systems like Git.
  • Actively participating in weekly spring meetings to discuss project progress and collaborate with team members.
  • Preparing comprehensive documentation for applications developed during the internship.
  • Creating and delivering demonstrations of applications to various audiences, showcasing the functionality and benefits of the developed solutions.
  • Engaging in team discussions and contributing ideas to enhance project outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in or completion of a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or enrollment in or completion of the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • No prior work experience is required, but candidates should possess relevant training, education, or skills that would benefit the United Nations during the internship.
  • Proficiency in writing code using Java, Spring Boot, and React, as well as familiarity with software development tools such as Git.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, along with a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
