Job Overview:
The Research Analyst/Senior Research Analyst position within the Regional Strategy and Analytics Division (RSD) of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia (MCD) Department is pivotal in delivering analytical products that inform economic policy and decision-making. The role involves constructing and managing comprehensive economic and financial databases, executing statistical and econometric analyses, and producing high-quality visual presentations of data. The selected candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with other analysts and economists, contributing to the development of analytical frameworks and ensuring that outputs meet the IMF's rigorous standards. This position not only requires technical expertise in data management and analysis but also demands strong communication skills to effectively present findings to senior management and external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: constructing and managing comprehensive economic and financial databases; designing and executing statistical and econometric analyses using programming languages such as E-Views, Stata, Python, and R; accessing and utilizing macroeconomic and financial market data from diverse sources; performing complex data calculations and validation procedures; preparing tables, charts, and dashboards for regional surveillance and management briefings; ensuring all outputs adhere to IMF formatting standards; maintaining fully documented data files; mentoring and training junior analysts; providing in-house advice on data management solutions; and potentially participating in analytical projects as time permits. The role also involves liaising with other research staff to solve problems and create databases, as well as backing up other analysts in the division.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent in economics, finance, statistics, computer science, or a related field. A working knowledge of macroeconomic relationships, statistical concepts, and econometric techniques is essential. Proficiency in programming and data analysis tools such as E-Views, Stata, Python, and R is required, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Office Excel, SharePoint, and PowerBI. Familiarity with the economies of the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Caucasus and Central Asia is advantageous. Candidates should also have experience in gathering and processing cross-country economic data, as well as producing high-quality visual outputs in a research or policy context.

Educational Background:
A university degree in economics, finance, statistics, computer science, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in econometrics or data analysis would be beneficial and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in economic research, data analysis, or a related field, ideally within a policy, research, or international organization setting. Experience with financial data tools and platforms such as Bloomberg and DataStream is also preferred. The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines is crucial, as is a demonstrated capacity for teamwork and effective communication.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the IMF. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the Middle East and Central Asia could be advantageous but is not required.
