Job Overview:
In this full-time contract position based in Port Vila, Vanuatu, the Human Resources Officer will report directly to the Human Resource and Admin Manager. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the effective Human Resource functions within Save the Children’s support services department in Vanuatu. The Human Resources Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Human Resource and Admin Manager in managing the human resources of Save the Children, with the aim of optimizing program implementation in Vanuatu and ensuring employee satisfaction. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: managing end-to-end recruitment processes, onboarding new employees, and overseeing the entire employee lifecycle. The officer will provide timely HR support and guidance to both staff and managers, coordinate staff training initiatives, performance management processes, probation reviews, and employee engagement activities. Additionally, the officer will maintain HR records and databases, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. Managing visa and work permit processes for international staff will also be a key responsibility. The officer will promote Save the Children’s values and foster a positive workplace culture. In terms of finance, the officer will prepare and administer payroll accurately and on time, reconcile HR-related balance sheet accounts, and support audits. Responding to payroll-related queries and ensuring compliance with financial procedures will also be part of the role. As a business partner, the officer will support managers with performance reviews, staff development, retention strategies, and succession planning. The officer will assist with staff engagement surveys and employee communications, providing advice and support on people management matters. Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and incidents will be a critical aspect of this role.
