The internship is hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), which is a regional development arm of the United Nations. Job Overview:
This internship is situated within the Enterprise Solutions Service of the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS) at UNESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand. The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days a week, totaling 35 hours. Interns will work under the supervision of a staff member in OICT/ESS, engaging in various tasks that align with their academic background and skills. The role is designed to provide interns with practical experience in coding, application deployment, and the use of AI and GIS services. Interns will be expected to write code in Python and TypeScript, utilize APIs for AI and GIS services, and participate in team meetings to discuss project progress and challenges. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will have a range of responsibilities that may vary based on their individual skills and background. Key duties include:
  • Writing and debugging code in Python and TypeScript.
  • Utilizing AI and GIS services through APIs to enhance application functionality.
  • Deploying applications and conducting tests to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Committing code to version control systems like Git.
  • Participating in weekly spring meetings to discuss project updates and collaborate with team members.
  • Preparing documentation for applications and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Creating and delivering demonstrations of applications to various audiences, showcasing their features and benefits.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific qualifications to be considered for the internship. They should be either enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level). While no prior work experience is required, candidates should possess relevant training, education, or skills that would benefit the United Nations during their internship.
