The role is crucial in diversifying the donor base amidst funding reductions and engaging with private donors. The UNV will assist in proposal development, donor reporting, and coordination of donor visits, ensuring that UNICEF's objectives align with the Rolling Work Plan targets and adhere to the organization's strategic plans and accountability framework. This position requires a proactive approach to maintain a healthy pipeline of funding and manage the workload effectively in a challenging context.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will be responsible for several key tasks:
Proposal Development, Reporting, and Donor Stewardship: Drafting, editing, and formatting donor reports and proposals to meet UNICEF standards; collecting and verifying programmatic inputs for reports; maintaining dialogue with National Committees; tracking donor reporting requirements; and coordinating with the Communications team for visual materials.
Donor Visits Coordination: Organizing donor field visits, preparing itineraries, conducting pre-visits for strategic alignment, providing interpretation support, and organizing donor-related events.
Donor Engagement Tracking and Follow-up: Maintaining records of reports and donor correspondence, tracking feedback, and ensuring timely sharing of materials with National Committees and private partners.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, and a drive for results. They should demonstrate planning and organizing capabilities, analytical skills, and the ability to apply technical expertise in their work. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values is essential, as is the ability to adapt to the cultural context of Lebanon.
Educational Background: A degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, or social sciences is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of donor relations and proposal development processes, as well as familiarity with UNICEF's operational framework and strategic objectives.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in donor relations, proposal writing, or project management, ideally within the context of international development or humanitarian assistance. Experience working with NGOs or UN agencies is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the Lebanese context and the challenges faced by children and families in the region.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable. Proficiency in other languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the donor base or the communities served by UNICEF.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Beirut, Lebanon. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 1,606.41, a one-time entry lump sum of USD 350, and a Danger and Hardship Differential based on the duty station's classification. Volunteers will also have free access to UNV's learning and career development resources.
