Job Overview: The Gender Based Violence Officer plays a crucial role in executing the quality implementation of the Gender-based Violence (GBV) thematic area, working in synergy with the broader protection and child protection components of the DRC program in Cox’s Bazar. This position requires collaboration with the GBV Team Leader and involves representing DRC in relevant field-based thematic meetings with stakeholders. The officer will ensure that all work produced is compliant with donor requirements and adheres to DRC's internal reporting and accountability policies. Depending on their demonstrated capacities and workload, the officer may specialize in either Response or Specific Prevention, or handle tasks in both areas, with opportunities to switch specializations as project cycles close.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Gender Based Violence Officer will be responsible for a variety of duties including: providing case management services in accordance with the survivor-centered approach outlined in the Inter Agency GBV Case Management Guidelines; participating in training and ongoing supervision provided by DRC; executing specific prevention interventions according to established guidelines; collaborating with other GBV team members to ensure comprehensive service quality; maintaining centers and service entry points as safe spaces for women and girls; ensuring timely requests for supplies and resources; completing and updating all necessary forms related to case management; submitting regular internal reports; fostering strong relationships with other agencies involved in case management; participating in supervision and capacity building activities; managing data and generating reports for information management; and adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience working with vulnerable communities and providing services in humanitarian GBV response or protection interventions. Experience in GBV or Mental Health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) is strongly preferred. Additionally, candidates should have experience working with international NGOs, local NGOs, or the United Nations. Strong communication skills, empathy, the ability to set boundaries, contextual understanding, and stress management skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with good organizational and management skills.
Educational Background: A university degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, Law, or a related field is required. Candidates from other fields who can demonstrate relevant personal skills and critical thinking will also be considered. A Master's degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise in the relevant areas.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, particularly in working with vulnerable communities and providing humanitarian services related to GBV response or protection interventions. Candidates with experience in GBV or MHPSS will have a competitive advantage, as will those who have worked with international NGOs, local NGOs, or UN agencies.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Additionally, fluency in Bengali, both written and spoken, is also required to effectively communicate with the local population and stakeholders.
