Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is designed to support Shabab Balad Egypt, which is backed by UNICEF, in enhancing its governance systems and operational frameworks. The volunteer will conduct research to compile global and regional best practices related to governance structures, accountability mechanisms, and organizational management approaches that are relevant to youth platforms and program structures. This role is crucial for strengthening internal governance and ensuring effective program implementation and coordination. The volunteer will be expected to provide evidence-based research and organized reference materials that will inform ongoing discussions and future governance development processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will undertake several key tasks, including: conducting desk research on governance best practices and institutional models relevant to program platforms and organizational structures; reviewing governance frameworks, operational systems, and accountability approaches used by similar initiatives and organizations; identifying and documenting best practices related to governance structures, roles and responsibilities frameworks, accountability and reporting systems, operational policies and procedures, decision-making and oversight mechanisms, and organizational sustainability approaches; compiling findings into concise summaries, presentations, and briefing materials; supporting benchmarking and comparative analysis exercises; and organizing and cataloging governance-related resources, tools, and reference materials. By the end of the assignment, the volunteer is expected to provide actionable recommendations and insights based on their research findings to aid in governance strengthening efforts within Shabab Balad.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Online Volunteer position should possess strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise formats. Familiarity with governance systems, institutional frameworks, and organizational management is essential. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to the principles of equity and child rights, as well as an understanding of the challenges faced by youth platforms and programs. Proficiency in using digital tools for research and communication is also required.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, public administration, international development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should ideally have completed or be in the process of completing a degree at the undergraduate or graduate level that provides relevant knowledge and skills for the role.

Experience:
While prior experience in governance research or youth program management is beneficial, it is not strictly required. The position is open to individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to the mission of UNICEF and Shabab Balad. Previous volunteer experience or internships in related fields will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all research and documentation will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage, as it may facilitate better understanding of local contexts and resources.
