Job Overview:
The Shelter and Settlement Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of rehabilitation projects aimed at improving housing conditions for displaced individuals. Under the guidance of the Shelter and Settlement Team Leader and/or Manager, the Assistant will engage in various activities, including conducting needs assessments and collecting data necessary for housing recovery projects. This position requires effective communication with beneficiaries and local authorities to ensure that project activities are well understood and that beneficiaries receive the necessary support throughout the project lifecycle. The role also involves organizing field visits and participatory activities, ensuring that all stakeholders are coordinated effectively during project implementation. The Assistant will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation related to project activities, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Shelter and Settlement Assistant will have a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: participating in needs assessments and non-technical household damage assessments; collecting and managing data for housing recovery projects; communicating with beneficiaries and local authorities to provide information on project activities; organizing and supporting field visits and meetings; ensuring timely data entry and maintenance in internal systems; preparing and archiving project documentation; participating in monitoring visits and final inspections; supporting project closure activities; assisting in the implementation of assistance programs; and ensuring compliance with data protection standards and organizational procedures throughout all project activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess higher education and demonstrate fluency in Ukrainian. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential. The ideal candidate should be comfortable discussing sensitive topics and working with individuals in distress. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively with vulnerable populations and diverse stakeholders. Organizational and time management skills are crucial, as is the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Personal attributes such as discipline, punctuality, responsibility in decision-making, honesty, and sociability are also important for success in this role.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree is required for this position. This educational background should ideally be in a relevant field that supports the responsibilities of the Shelter and Settlement Assistant, such as social work, humanitarian studies, or a related discipline.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least one year of experience in the social sector, with a preference for those who have worked with humanitarian organizations. Experience interacting with aid recipients or local authorities, as well as participation in humanitarian projects, will be considered advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Basic knowledge of English is considered a desirable asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and enhance the Assistant's ability to engage in broader project discussions.
