Job Overview: The UN Volunteer position focuses on supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of interventions aimed at improving adolescents' and youth's access to quality sexual and reproductive health services. This includes a strong emphasis on adolescent-friendly health services, comprehensive sexuality education in schools and communities, and menstrual hygiene management. The role involves collaborating with UNFPA's implementing partners to develop work plans, coordinate project missions, and support programmatic activities. The volunteer will also engage in knowledge management, data collection, and analysis to inform advocacy and reporting efforts. Additionally, the position requires building innovative partnerships and mobilizing resources to ensure sustainable financing for sexual and reproductive health initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities:
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Education for adolescents and youths: - Develop draft workplans and implement programmatic actions in collaboration with partners. - Organize and coordinate project missions, workshops, and meetings. - Implement activities related to Menstrual Hygiene Management and women's economic empowerment. - Plan and coordinate research initiatives, including data collection and stakeholder consultations. - Identify vulnerable populations and design prioritized actions for improved sexual and reproductive rights. - Prepare training workshops and awareness-raising sessions on adolescent-friendly health services. - Document strategies and tools for sustainable capacity development initiatives.
Knowledge management / sharing: - Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data for advocacy and reporting. - Document good practices and lessons learned. - Conduct cost-benefit analysis of interventions. - Draft background papers, reports, and policy briefs related to Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.
Partnerships and resource mobilization: - Map and explore partnership opportunities for adolescents' sexual and reproductive health. - Develop impactful pitches and human-interest stories. - Support donor reporting and funding proposals. - Identify innovative partnerships with the private sector. - Assist in planning missions and meetings with potential donors. - Provide capacity building support to Youth-Led Organizations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. A demonstrated commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience in project management, particularly in the field of sexual and reproductive health, and be able to engage effectively with various stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and community organizations. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting is also required, along with the ability to develop training materials and facilitate workshops.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, gender studies, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees are preferred and may be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of sexual and reproductive health issues, particularly as they pertain to adolescents and youth.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, particularly in the context of sexual and reproductive health and rights. Experience working with youth and marginalized populations is highly desirable. Familiarity with the UN system and international development frameworks will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Portuguese is highly desirable given the local context. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset.
