Job Overview: The Head of Consortium will lead the Consortium Coordination Unit in Bangladesh, which acts as the secretariat for the consortium. This role involves providing strategic guidance for the management and direction of the consortium program, overseeing operational delivery, and facilitating the strategic development of the consortium program. The position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to build constructive relationships with various stakeholders, including consortium partners, donors, and government authorities. The role is crucial for ensuring that the consortium effectively responds to the evolving needs of the communities it serves, particularly in the context of the Rohingya refugee crisis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the consortium strategy, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs and operational context.
Oversee programmatic and financial performance, ensuring projects remain within scope and on schedule.
Identify funding opportunities and develop program proposals to ensure sustainable growth.
Manage the Consortium Coordination Unit staff, including performance management and recruitment.
Represent the consortium in various coordination forums with stakeholders.
Establish and maintain effective communication mechanisms among donors, the Steering Committee, and consortium members.
Support learning across member organizations to improve grant effectiveness and responsiveness to beneficiary needs.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a relevant field.
Proven senior project management and/or coordination experience in humanitarian, conflict, or post-conflict contexts.
Expertise in project cycle management and grant management.
Familiarity with consortium programming in protracted crises.
Experience in organizational representation and working with partnerships or equivalent structures.
Knowledge of ECHO and FCDO funding mechanisms.
Experience working in complex and volatile contexts, particularly with displacement-affected populations.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to hold an advanced degree in a relevant field, which may include international relations, humanitarian studies, social sciences, or a related discipline. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the specific challenges faced in crisis situations.
Experience: The position requires significant experience in senior project management and coordination, particularly in humanitarian settings. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing complex projects and working effectively in challenging environments, ideally with experience in protracted crises and durable solutions programming. Familiarity with consortium programming and experience in organizational representation are also critical.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Strong writing and editing skills are essential for effective communication and reporting. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the South Asian context may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, with a contract duration of 24 months, which may be extended based on performance, requirements, and funding availability.
