Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteers for the World No Tobacco Day Campaign 2026 involves supporting WHO's communications activities at the country level. The volunteers will play a crucial role in the campaign themed 'Démasquons les tactiques de séduction', which aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine on human health. The campaign is particularly focused on educating young people about the marketing strategies used by the tobacco industry to attract new consumers. Volunteers will be responsible for the accurate and timely production and dissemination of high-quality public information products that highlight WHO's work and the achievements of key public health initiatives. They will work closely with colleagues in the country office to ensure visibility of health issues among partners, the general public, and the media. The campaign will leverage various social media platforms to engage communities and promote health-friendly behaviors.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: actively disseminating awareness messages about the dangers of tobacco, nicotine, and related products on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and YouTube; sharing visuals, videos, testimonials, infographics, and key messages produced for the World No Tobacco Day Campaign 2026; raising awareness among youth and communities about the seductive tactics used by the tobacco industry, including targeted marketing, digital influence, attractive flavors, appealing packaging, indirect sponsorship, influencers, and misinformation; encouraging community discussions and citizen mobilization around the official hashtag #DemasquonsLesTactiques; promoting health-friendly behaviors and supporting tobacco prevention initiatives; participating in a virtual orientation session prior to the campaign launch to harmonize messages and communication strategies; enhancing the visibility of official World No Tobacco Day activities on May 31, 2026, through live publications, sharing highlights, and disseminating institutional messages; producing and sharing creative and engaging content tailored to young audiences; and submitting a brief final report summarizing their contributions, the reach of their actions, and the interactions generated during the campaign. Volunteers will receive ready-to-use communication kits from WHO and its partners to ensure coherent, dynamic, and effective communication throughout the campaign.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Online Volunteers position should possess strong communication skills, particularly in digital and social media contexts. They should be able to create engaging content that resonates with young audiences and have a good understanding of public health issues, particularly those related to tobacco and nicotine. Familiarity with social media platforms and experience in community engagement or advocacy work will be beneficial.
