Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, was established to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. Operating in over 150 countries, UNFPA focuses on achieving transformative results such as ending unmet needs for family planning, preventing maternal deaths, combating gender-based violence, and adapting to demographic changes. The organization emphasizes data and innovation to address complex challenges in the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring that rights and choices are accessible to all, even in crisis-affected areas.

Job Overview:
The UNFPA Asia and the Pacific Regional Office is enhancing its knowledge management and innovation-sharing capabilities across its Country Offices. The Innovation Repository is a key tool that captures innovative practices, pilot projects, partnerships, and digital solutions implemented across the region. The role of the Online Volunteer is crucial in updating and organizing this repository, which will facilitate better access to innovation knowledge for UNFPA staff, support cross-country learning, and enhance visibility for impactful initiatives. Volunteers will work closely with the APRO Programme Specialist to ensure that the repository is comprehensive and up-to-date, thereby contributing to the overall mission of UNFPA.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be responsible for several key tasks including: organizing, cleaning, and updating entries in the Innovation Repository based on information received from Country Offices and existing records; reviewing submissions for completeness and consistency; consolidating information where relevant; identifying missing information; categorizing innovation initiatives; and preparing short summaries or highlights for knowledge-sharing purposes. Volunteers will coordinate virtually with the Programme Specialist through email and periodic online meetings, and they may also collaborate with other online volunteers assigned to the project. Regular progress updates will be expected to ensure that the project stays on track and meets its objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as they will be handling a significant amount of data. Familiarity with data management tools such as Microsoft Excel and SharePoint is desirable. Volunteers should also have good communication skills to effectively coordinate with the Programme Specialist and other team members. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently in a virtual environment are essential.

Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in fields related to data management, social sciences, public health, or international development would be beneficial. Volunteers should have a solid understanding of the principles of knowledge management and innovation in the context of development work.

Experience:
Experience in data management, knowledge sharing, or similar roles is preferred. Familiarity with the UN system or experience working in international organizations would be an advantage. Volunteers should be comfortable working in a virtual environment and have experience with online collaboration tools.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be in English. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the Asia-Pacific region may be considered an asset, enhancing the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position, and the duration of the contract is not specified. The role is part-time and flexible, allowing volunteers to contribute according to their availability. Compensation is not provided, as this is a volunteer opportunity, but it offers valuable experience in a reputable international organization.
